I had bought Tata Nexon EV on November 1, 2020. This is my first update on my car.

Short: The vehicle is super awesome.

One of the major concern for many people is regarding the power, and whether the vehicle will be able to drive through hilly terrain. Let me double assure you, this is one of the most powerful vehicles in the class and you should have no worry regarding the power of navigating through hilly terrains. It drives through hilly terrains with ease. When you are overtaking, the vehicle gives you adequate power and no lag in delivery. So overtaking is also smooth.

The second major concern is the range (or mileage) of the vehicle. The company promises 312 km once fully charged. There is a safety feature that when the battery is 20%, the AC is shut down and you cannot go above 50 kmph. This is an indicator that you should charge your vehicle and the rest of the charge is for you to reach the charging station. So ideally, you can drive 80% with fully features (~245km). The range also depends on your driving pattern and terrain. So I was expecting around 200–225 km when charged to 100% and to 20%. So far I have got projected range between 140–160 km. On 8th Dec, the BMS (Battery Management Software) was updated, and after that, I got 180 km projected range.

The third part is about the gear system in the vehicle. The car technically has no gear system and has different modes of power. Reverse, Neutral, Drive and Sport modes. The vehicle does not have a lever in place of the gear, it has a dial. This dial is a little confusing initially, but you will get used to it.

The sound system is from Harman and is super awesome.

Rest of the features are similar to the rest of the SUVs and Nexon petrol/diesel version.

Side note: I have met a few owners who drive rashly and complain about the range (or mileage). The vehicle’s range definitely is dependent on your driving pattern and the terrain.

With the current scenario, you cannot expect to go on long drives with this EV, but with the State and Central Govt policies, we can expect this to be available within 1 year.

To sum up, the vehicle is ideal for city drive and local use, but not for long drives (for now).

I am driving to Nileshwaram on Dec 19th to test the range, will try to upload more information after this.
